Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

We are in an exciting time of intentionally focusing on the mission Jesus has given us all. This Sunday guest preacher Sègbégnon Gnonhossou shared from Acts 8 about how mission is the facilitation of joy through the Holy Spirit – often in “joyless places.” All our adult classes met after the service for the first time this fall.

SPU President Dr. Deana Porterfield also announced that SPU students will be attending worship with us on Sunday, September 29th as part of their orientation experience. We are excited to warmly welcome this group of new and returning students to FFMC. Please plan to come a few minutes early this Sunday to greet students and slide towards the middle of the pews, making room for our guests on the aisles. Let us also commit to pray for these students and SPU faculty, staff, and administrators, as they rely on the Lord for the year ahead.

We are preparing to build meaningful bridges with SPU students through internships with Fostering Hope, weekly practice in our new music studio facilitated by Modern Worship Director Lisa Moe, and the Abundant Life Class for young adults beginning on October 6th. Please pray with us for the Spirit’s leading.

Pastor Craig and Bettina are in our prayers as well, as they continue their well-earned vacation in Ireland. You won’t want to miss Dr. Porterfield’s message next Sunday on being rooted in Christ. After worship you are invited to join the Samaritan Class to hear FM missionaries Darin and Jill Land share their stories of serving in Asia since 2009, mentoring and training leaders alongside Asia Area Director Eric Spangler.

Please come and invite others to the Afternoon of Impact, happening in the Fine Center on Sunday, October 6th, at 3-5pm. Learn how God is planting the gospel of peace across Latin America and support the important work of Impact Latin America. We hope you can be a part of this significant annual event! May our eyes and ears be open to the ways we are being mobilized to be facilitators of joy as we love people, connect to Jesus, and serve the world. I am thankful to be on mission with you!

Grace & Peace,
Pastor Camille Pook
