Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

On Sunday, June 21, I mentioned a toward the end of the sermon that we would start a new worship series in July called Faith Forward. The series will help us explore faith as the way we connect with the Lord. We clearly hear the words of scripture about how “without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:6)
What is faith? Is it like an “on/off” switch? Is it a confession? Is it optimism? Do we need more of it? Moreover, what role does doubt, hope, and joy have with faith? Here is what we will study and share over the summer months at FFMC:
- July 5–Abraham and Faith for New Beginnings (Genesis 11:31-12:8)
- July 12–Special Celebration for Pastor Camille Pook
- July 19–Sarah and Faith in Hopeless Times (Genesis 18:9-15)
- July 26-Joseph and Faith for New Generations (Genesis 50:15-26)
- August 2-Jochebed & Amram and Faith Acting in Courage (Exodus 2:1-10)
- August 9-Rahab and Faith for Tough Choices (Joshua 2:1-14)
- August 16-Gideon and Faith to Trust God with Outcomes (Judges 7:1-7)
- August 23-David and Faith for the Future (2 Samuel 7:8-17)
- August 30-Mary and Faith for Obedience (Luke 1:26-38)
- September 5-John and Faith for Life (Revelation 21:15-27)
Just about all these stories are mentioned in Hebrews 11 as part of the so-called “Hall of Faith.” Along with the writer of Hebrews, we will celebrate these great stories of faith and how the Spirit continues to speak to us today through all of them.
“Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 (NASB, 2020)
May we all experience the blessing of the Spirit this summer as we center our hearts on the Lord through faith!
Grace to You All,
Pastor Craig Brown
