Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

Our church has a clear Way of Life which we have affirmed for a good number of years: Love People – Connect to Jesus – Serve the World. Our mission as a church is to be a community which lives that Way of Life each day. The hope is that every class, ConneXt group, or gathering at FFMC pours into each person’s spiritual life so that our Way of Life takes shape.

We have also learned about our church’s vision over these last few years. Vision is a snapshot of what we look like when the Mission is being accomplished. What kinds of things are we doing when our Way of Life takes shape in the life of every generation at FFMC?

The unfolding vision of FFMC is evolving. We shared this vision at our recent Town Hall Meeting. For those who were not able to attend, allow me to share what the vision of FFMC is becoming:

SAFE SPACES – When we create space for people who know nothing of Jesus, people come. So many have experienced a Christianity which is condemning. By creating safe space in as many places as possible, we give folks an opportunity to ask questions, seek hope, and find grace in Christ.

COMMUNITY – Safe spaces are only the beginning. What we are seeing at The Table on Wednesday night and Friday Night Fellowships (held once per month) is a stable group of people who are building relationships with each other and Christ. These new spaces are becoming places of belonging.

REVELATION – Safety and Community give rise to revelation. The revelation I speak of here is where the Holy Spirit begins to move in relationships, prayer and study. Those who are new to our church reveal something of God to us. We reveal something to them as well. God is faithful to open doors to reveal Himself in new ways.

Safe spaces, community, and revelation become very important to us on several different levels. How will this vision impact the activities we already have happening at FFMC? Does this vision speak to how we will make choices about the future of our buildings and campus? How might the Spirit bring revival and renewal to our church through this vision?

Please keep praying with me about the meaning and implications of this vision for our future. God is moving! We see the path God has opened to us more clearly. May we each find our place in God’s vision for FFMC.

Grace to you all,

Craig+
