Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

First, let me say how thankful I am for all of you in the FFMC family. The new worship series on “Critical Issues” has touched an important part of our life in Christ. I have already heard from quite a few about how valuable this worship series has been and will be.

I am on the journey with you! Each week, I am learning more and more about these topics as I prepare for the sermon. Let’s continue praying together about what we can learn, but perhaps more importantly, what we can do during this time as followers of Jesus!

Here are a few keys which can help us as we navigate these hard topics together:

  • Embrace a Generous Spirit – Assume a level of uncertainty when we share our thoughts, opinions, and convictions. Find ways to communicate in prayer where you share your assumptions and even misconceptions.
  • Be More Open – Take the time daily to open your heart to new ways God might speak to you through scripture, nature, or relationships.
  • Pay Attention to Inputs – Take a break from social media and other influences which often fire us up emotionally and might also make us more anxious or depressed.
  • Be Human – Envision yourself and everyone around you as a sacred image-bearer of God. Even in differences, we are all beloved by Jesus.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

It is blessing to share this journey together with you!

P.S. I’ll be leaving this Sunday for a couple weeks of vacation playing golf in Scotland. Due to my flight schedule, I’ll be leaving right after the sermon this Sunday. I look forward to being back in worship with you on May 3!

Grace to You All,

Pastor Craig Brown
