Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

Our current worship series, This Is the Way, is all about our church’s Way of Discipleship. Our Way of Discipleship is how we prepare people to share in our Way of Life of Love People, Connect to Jesus, and Serve the World. Both of these “Ways” are the method to our Methodism. We are careful about how we do the work of discipleship.

Each week during our worship series we are exploring each of the seven practices in our Way of Discipleship. I am excited that this week’s practice coincides with Freedom Sunday. Free Methodism as long-standing roots in opposition to the practice of slavery. One of the ways we see slavery at work today is in human trafficking. Freedom Sunday is about how we focus our efforts as a church to eliminating this sinful and evil practice from the face of the Earth.

Pastor Camille will bring the sermon this Sunday as we focus on the “Way of Serving” with Freedom Sunday. I am certain that you will clearly see the connection between the two. Our Way of Discipleship is not just words printed on posters and signs. It is what we do. It is what we learn to do. It is how we follow Jesus into the world.

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday. May our hearts be set afire for God’s work of justice and grace in the world.
