Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update
I am thankful for our Leadership Team and their short presentation on Sunday. This team, along with the Finance Team and Facility Team, have worked tirelessly to follow every option regarding our church’s facilities. Their presentation on Sunday outlined three important options for us as a church:
1. Do Nothing – Leave our buildings as they are.
2. Sell Everything & Relocate – Find a new home for our congregation.
3. Stay & Develop – Use the value of our property to invest in our current location.
Throughout our work in the Leadership Team, we have tried to stay focused on our mission field in Queen Anne and our enduring relationship with SPU. If there is a way to sustain our future while keeping these two important relationships, we must find every way to make it happen.
When facing these kinds of choices, we should affirm our values, history, and identity. We also have to describe what the future of our church could look like. Look to the past to clearly see our future.
It means that we are not faced with a decision to make. We are being called to discern the Lord’s direction for our church. That may not mean that there is only one choice, but possibly many. If we are discerning, then the work is really about prayer, listening to God and each other, and taking one step at a time. Rarely do we see the whole journey from the outset.
Will you join with me and the Leadership Team in prayer? Will you come to participate in the Town Hall Meeting this Saturday to discern together? I am confident that we will!
