Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

It was a blessing to start our new series on The Lord’s Prayer this last Sunday. The coming weeks will be filled with opportunities to explore and deepen our prayer life both individually and as a community.

On Sunday, I shared that one of the foundational ways we connect with God the Father is through the act of prayer. We listen, speak, wonder, and reflect on our lives in prayer with Jesus as our intercessor and the Spirit as our guide. All three persons of the Trinity are at work when we pray!

We also shared on Sunday that we, as a church, are deepening our commitment to prayer. Here are a few ways that is happening and how you can participate.

• Prayers of the People in Worship: Pastor Camille will be leading a time of prayer for our church, community, and world each Sunday in worship. Most of our announcements are being moved to the beginning of the service, so we can have a dedicated time for prayer under Pastor Camille’s leadership.

• Healing Prayer on the Last Sunday of the Month: Beginning this Sunday (October 26) and in the months that follow, we will have a time during worship and after for anyone to come forward for healing prayer. Our prayer ministers can anoint with oil and pray with the laying on of hands as people feel comfortable.

• Selah Prayer Ministry: This Saturday (October 25), we are hosting a Seattle-wide gathering in the Fine Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., soaking in God’s presence through prayer, worship, and the Word. All are welcome to join in. Please register by going to ffmc.org/events.

• Pre-Worship Prayer: The pastors and other prayer warriors gather at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday to pray in our prayer room off the sanctuary for the worship service and all those coming together in-person or online. All are welcome to join!

Each of these ministries is helping us dive deeper into prayer. I hope you will be blessed by the Lord in any or all of them. God is faithful and is ready to meet our willing hearts!
