Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

Our church is gifted with dedicated leaders on both our paid and “unpaid” staff. I continue to see signs of God’s work through the dedicated efforts of so many in the life of FFMC. Lives are being changed. Destinies shifted. The gospel proclaimed. It is a joy to see so many movements of the Spirit up close.

A movement I continue to see first-hand is with Pastor Camille Pook. In her work with missional engagement and Fostering Hope, she faithfully listens to the voice of the Spirit. Some of the first teenagers to become part of our youth group today were first exposed to our church through Fostering Hope. Pastor Camille continues to be an excellent interpreter of the ongoing work of FFMC in mission with two mission trips to Colombia and now to Vietnam with Free Methodist World Missions.

A thread of her ministry which has woven through these important ministries is her gifting for care and support of individuals. Members of the staff and many in our church appreciate Pastor Camille’s listening ear, empathetic spirit, and heart for prayer. This capacity for caring ministry happens in every area of her ministry and beyond.

I am pleased to share that we are celebrating and acknowledging her gifts for pastoral and congregational care by changing her current responsibilities to include this important caring ministry. As of September 1, Pastor Camille’s position will be called “Pastor of Mission & Care.” We look forward to her unfolding ministry in what has already been a fruitful work of the Spirit.

Pastor Camille will hold three areas of ministry in the life of FFMC. They are:

  • Congregational Care by equipping our congregation for deeper care of one another as well as the pastoral care of those new to FFMC.
  • Missional engagement by supporting our efforts both locally and globally to share the gospel of Jesus.
  • Fostering Hope through ongoing leadership of this multi-faceted ministry.

To be sure, Pastor Camille’s ministry is not to DO this work in isolation. She will be focused on equipping our church to serve in all these areas. Perhaps God is calling you to serve even now! I am sure Pastor Camille will welcome both conversation and prayer with you about it.

Grace to You All,

Pastor Craig Brown
