Pastor’s eNote: Weekly Update

The Son

We were all blessed this last Sunday with Pastor Camille’s message about our one true King, Jesus, the Christ. It was a fitting way to begin our new series on The Son, which explores how we relate to Jesus as the Savior of the world. Our relationship with Jesus as the second person of the Trinity, is one of love made manifest in human flesh. Emmanuel, God with us.

The Season of Advent begins this Sunday. It marks our four weeks of preparation for Christmas. In keeping with our worship theme, Advent draws our focus toward Jesus’s coming and his coming again. What God seeks to do for all of humanity now and in the future begins with the Christmas story. Jesus’ birth is the beginning of his passion which culminates in the cross. Jesus is our loving savior from the cradle to the cross.

This message of relating to Jesus is so important in these days. I experience so many people weary of our political polarization, heightened hostility, and overall climate of alienation. The message and meaning of Christmas points to our hope in these dark days of winter. Coming to know and experience The Son will offer us new life and hope for the future.

Throughout Advent, FFMC is focused on how we can sustain that hope. I pray you can experience a sense of new life through:

  • Weekly Worship with Advent scriptures from Isaiah and weekly message from Pastor Craig on Paul’s letter to the Colossians.
  • Advent Devotional emailed for each week on Monday including a video devotional from Free Methodist World Missions along with the study guide.
  • Carol Singing each week before worship starts. Be sure to arrive early to join in the melodies of Christmas.
  • Christmas Lunch with Charlie Brown will happen on December 21 following worship including a screening of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

May we all draw close to The Son, Jesus Christ during the month of December. I look forward to the journey with all of you.

Grace to You All,

Pastor Craig Brown
